About the role

Red Rabbit is seeking a Food Service Coordinator/Cafe Chef to work on‑site in a Washington, DC school. The role blends kitchen expediting with administrative coordination, ensuring that nutritious meals are prepared and served on time while supporting both kitchen staff and school partners. The position is full‑time, with no night, weekend, or holiday work.

Key responsibilities

• Serve meals on schedule in compliant portions each day.
• Maintain a clean, presentable service line that respects student dignity.
• Share information proactively between kitchen and school teams to keep operations smooth.
• Identify and resolve potential workflow conflicts.
• Maintain operational systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy and meal compliance.
• Create accountability checks for consistent data management.
• Address day‑of concerns with school partners and keep the Head Chef and District Manager informed.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to solve same‑day operational issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in an operational or administrative role supporting cross‑functional teams.
• 1+ year in a customer‑facing role preferred.
• Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple projects.
• Experience with schools or food service is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to a mission‑driven company.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Acute attention to detail and strong follow‑through.
• Passion for improving school nutrition and a focus on social justice.
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
