Food Educator – Part‑Time (NM)

About the role

Cooking with Kids is seeking part‑time Food Educators to deliver hands‑on cooking and nutrition lessons in schools across Rio Arriba County and surrounding areas. Educators inspire children and families to make healthy food choices through classroom cooking, cafeteria tastings, and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and deliver cooking lessons and monthly cafeteria tastings using the Cooking with Kids curriculum.
• Build relationships with teachers, administrators, cafeteria staff, families and community partners.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation and risk‑management procedures, including an active Food Handlers certification.
• Transport program supplies, complete reporting, timesheets and purchasing records, and support additional activities such as after‑school programs and garden‑to‑kitchen projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in education, nutrition, public health, child development, agriculture or related field preferred.
• At least two years of experience working with children, youth, schools or community‑based programs.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and basic computer skills.
• Successful background check and ability to meet all organizational and school district requirements.

What we offer

• Hourly pay starting at $22/hour, increasing to $23/hour after a three‑month probationary period.
