Flooring Estimator

About the role

A fast-paced, Chicago-based flooring company is looking for a full-time Estimator to join its team. The Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the materials and their quantities needed for flooring projects, by reviewing project specifications, assessing floor plans and measurements and using industry-standard software to generate accurate estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Review project specifications, architectural drawings and floor plans to understand the scope and requirements of each project.
• Collaborate with project managers, sales teams and clients to gather information and clarify project details.
• Use industry-specific software tools (such as Measure Square) to calculate material quantities accurately.
• Take into account material type, subfloor condition, installation method and other variables to give appropriate recommendations and estimates.
• Maintain accurate records of project details, estimations and communications.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, flooring products and installation techniques.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Flooring Estimator or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of flooring types, installation methods, subfloor preparation and industry standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred; relevant experience can be considered.

Required skills

• Proficiency with estimation software, CAD software and measurement tools.
• Excellent mathematical skills and precise calculation and measurement abilities.
• Attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex project specifications and architectural drawings.
• Strong organization and the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
