Director of Electrical Engineering (Remote)

About the role

An established employee-owned specialty contractor with nationwide operations is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead electrical engineering strategy, technical execution and project team oversight on large-scale, complex projects. The role covers data centers, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, advanced manufacturing, mission-critical facilities and complex electrical infrastructure, with teams overseeing electrical scopes of $60M+. It is fully remote, with visibility across project leadership, engineering, preconstruction, operations and client-facing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee electrical engineering teams on complex projects with electrical scopes of $60M+
• Provide technical leadership across data centers, healthcare, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing and mission-critical projects
• Oversee electrical design, engineering standards, constructability and project execution strategy
• Support project teams from early design and preconstruction through construction, commissioning and closeout
• Review and approve technical design packages, calculations, specifications and engineering documentation
• Lead, mentor and develop engineering teams across multiple projects and regions
• Act as senior technical point of contact for clients, internal project teams and executive leadership
• Partner with operations, estimating, preconstruction and field leadership, and drive quality, innovation and compliance with codes, standards, safety requirements and client specifications

Required profile

• Active PE / Professional Engineer license
• Strong electrical engineering background in complex project environments
• Experience delivering large electrical projects, ideally $60M+ scope
• Background in data centers, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, advanced manufacturing, life sciences or mission-critical facilities
• Proven experience leading engineering teams on major projects
• Experience working with contractors, field teams, preconstruction and project delivery teams
• Comfortable working remotely while supporting nationwide project teams

Required skills

• Power distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, emergency power, grounding and lighting
• Constructability, project execution and technical risk management
• Excellent communication skills with clients and internal teams
