Float Pool Clinic Medical Assistant PRN

About the role

Join Ochsner Health’s Float Pool Clinic team as a PRN Medical Assistant, providing individualized care to patients in person, electronically, and via telephone. You will work under the supervision of a licensed health care provider, supporting both patients and providers throughout each visit.

Key responsibilities

• Support the patient and provider throughout the visit, ensuring both are prepared and comfortable.
• Answer patient questions, prepare examination rooms, and provide excellent service both in person and over the phone.
• Complete accurate documentation, including patient registration when needed.
• Maintain clinical knowledge, technical skills, and required credentials through ongoing professional development.
• Adapt communication style to respect patient privacy and meet the needs of diverse populations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED (required); completion of a formal medical assistant training program (preferred).
• Experience handling confidential information in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
