Firmware Engineer

About the role

Etched builds ASIC systems that deliver much higher performance than conventional AI chips, including its Sohu ASIC designed for transformers. As a Firmware Engineer in Cupertino, you will co-develop software optimized across hardware and software that drives the full potential of very large transformer models, working on problems from low-level drivers and APIs to high-level applications and frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Co-develop software optimized across hardware and software that drives the full potential of very large transformer models.
• Solve challenging problems across the full stack, from low-level drivers and APIs to high-level applications and frameworks.
• Contribute to AI solutions that could transform fields such as natural language processing, chain-of-reasoning automation and generative media.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in software development, including data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience developing and testing software for product launches.
• 3 years of experience with firmware design, implementation and troubleshooting.
• 3 years of experience with embedded architectures, IO technologies (I2C, SPI, PCIe, DRAM, etc.) and concepts such as scalability, fault tolerance and consistency.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, experience resolving customer issues and solving ambiguous problems, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
