Fire Protection Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Fire Protection Specialist to support a government contract at Kings Bay, Georgia. The specialist inspects, tests, maintains and repairs fire alarm and suppression systems in line with manufacturer specifications and NFPA standards, and also performs plumbing and pipe installation work.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, test, maintain and repair fire alarm and suppression systems, replace defective components and recharge or replace suppression container pressure gauges
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on dry/wet pipe, pre-action and deluge systems
• Install and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures, cut openings in walls and floors, thread and bend pipe, and join pipe with solder, plastic solvent and caulking
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures and repair leaks and clogs; may weld fixtures to steel members
• Study building plans and working drawings, locate pipe routes and mark positions

Required profile

• High school education or equivalent
• At least 3 years of experience installing and repairing wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action and deluge systems
• Familiarity with AFFF systems and knowledge of NFPA-13 manuals
• Ability to operate alarm control panels, fire pumps and controllers
• Ability to work at heights up to 150 feet and lift up to 50 lbs
• Valid state driver's license and hard-toed safety shoes meeting ASTM F2413-05
• Subject to a government security investigation; US citizenship required for facility credentials at this location

Required skills

• NICET Level III or higher Fire Protection certification (Level II considered)
• Plumbing and pipe installation
