Financial Institutions Examiner I (Pawnbrokers) - Hybrid

About the role

The State of Illinois, through its Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, is hiring one Financial Institutions Examiner I (class title FIN INSTITUTIONS EXAMINER I, skill option UMP) in Chicago. The position is salaried, full time, Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with anticipated hybrid work and a requirement to report to the headquarters in Chicago as needed depending on operational needs. It is a union position covered by the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Receive classroom and on-the-job training over six to twelve months, under direct supervision, to perform on-site examinations of pawnbroker regulation applications.
• Determine the financial condition, safety and soundness, and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations of the examined entities.
• Evaluate corporate fiduciaries' management, operations, internal controls and auditing, earnings, compliance and asset management.
• Travel extensively to assigned facilities to conduct the examinations.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not provide visa sponsorship.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.
