Financial Controller – Nonprofit (Miami, FL)

About the role

The organization is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead its finance and accounting function. This permanent, full‑time position supports a well‑established nonprofit serving elderly and underserved populations in South Florida.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month‑end close processes.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
• Develop, monitor, and manage the operating budget, providing variance analysis and financial forecasting.
• Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and effective stewardship of resources.
• Manage grant accounting and restricted funds, ensuring expenditures align with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate annual audits, prepare supporting schedules, and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
• Support executive leadership with financial insights, operational reporting, and strategic recommendations to enhance organizational sustainability.
