Financial Analyst – Employee Benefits Enforcement

About the role

The Financial Analyst works within the Employee Benefits Security Administration’s Office of Enforcement, supporting civil and criminal enforcement of ERISA. The position involves evaluating employee‑benefit plan finances, conducting investigations, and developing enforcement strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze plan financial activities to detect imprudent investments, prohibited transactions, excessive fees, and assess their impact on plan operations.
• Coordinate and participate in complex civil investigations of employee‑benefit plans, service providers, and related financial entities.
• Prepare detailed reports, work papers, charts, and demonstratives for investigations and trial preparation.
• Use technology and data systems to collect, analyze, and connect large financial datasets, including real estate, derivatives, and private‑equity assets.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required security clearance.
• At least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑13 level, including financial analysis of corporate finance, securities, and valuation of hard‑to‑value assets.
• Demonstrated experience preparing comprehensive analytical work products and providing litigation support.
• Effective collaboration with investigators, attorneys, government agencies, and private‑sector partners.
