About the role

The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at the University of Maryland seeks a Financial Aid Counselor to provide high‑quality counseling and administration of financial aid programs for students and families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent customer service on FAFSA completion, financial aid options, and aid offers.
• Administer FAFSA and related processes, including need analysis, aid reconsideration, verification, loan processing, and compliance with Title IV regulations.
• Utilize financial aid systems, websites, and data reports for processing and reporting.
• Collaborate with OSFA, Enrollment Management, and other campus partners on projects and outreach events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of professional experience in financial aid, finance advising, or finance counseling.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and Title IV regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Attention to detail when reviewing and entering data.

What we offer

• Salary range $55,000 – $66,000 per year.
