Business Coordinator

About the role

The Center for Global Sustainability at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy seeks a highly organized Business Coordinator to support its finance team. The role focuses on coordinating domestic and international travel and providing comprehensive business and financial administrative support to faculty, researchers, students, and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as primary coordinator for all CGS business travel, handling requests, approvals, arrangements, expense reports and reimbursements.
• Coordinate procurement activities, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor transactions and service agreements.
• Process and monitor reimbursements for employees, faculty, students and guests.
• Maintain audit‑ready financial records and track transactions from initiation through payment.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, research teams, university offices and external vendors to resolve transaction issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of experience in finance, procurement, travel coordination or related administrative functions.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with Google Suite.
