Finance Director - Auto Retail F&I

About the role

Ever is building an AI-native auto retail platform focused on electric vehicles, with its headquarters in San Francisco and a rapid expansion nationwide. The Finance Director owns the finance and insurance (F&I) vertical for a specific location, reporting to the General Manager and based in San Diego. The role leads the site Finance Managers, reviews deals in the stores, coaches managers and closes the gap between how F&I should work and how it actually works.

Key responsibilities

• Own F&I profitability: product penetration, reserves and per-unit back-end gross, with a clear plan to improve each
• Manage the lender panel, buy rates, reserve structure and program terms, and the relationships that affect approval depth and funding speed
• Select, price and manage the protection product lineup with the providers, balancing customer value against margin
• Define one menu and one presentation standard used identically at every site
• Build and maintain the F&I compliance framework and certification program, covering disclosure accuracy, adverse action handling, rate and product integrity, and documented training
• Own contract accuracy and time to funding, and reduce contracts in transit, kickbacks and rewrites through process
• Own the F&I reporting used by management, including performance by site, manager and product

Required profile

• 7+ years in automotive F&I, with at least 3 years leading F&I managers or as a corporate/regional F&I leader
• Proven record of raising back-end gross and product penetration without increasing compliance risk or customer complaints
• Deep knowledge of lender programs, reserve structures and protection product economics, with real relationships on both sides
• Command of the regulatory framework, including Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity, adverse action and applicable state requirements
• Experience leading managers, including hiring, performance management and building certification and training programs
• Hands-on experience designing or restructuring F&I compensation plans

Nice to have

• Background in EV retail or a direct-to-consumer model
• Experience in a used-vehicle-only operation
• AFIP certification or equivalent
• Experience setting up an F&I function or standardizing it across sites

• Salary of $125,000-$225,000 OTE (base plus commission)
