Field Service Technician - Solar Energy Systems

About the role

Otovo is looking for a skilled and dependable Field Service Technician to join its renewable energy team in Oahu, Hawaii. You will service, maintain, troubleshoot and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions and generators. The role suits an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems and delivering good customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators and related equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance such as panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing and battery health checks
• Commission new systems and upgrades in line with NEC, AHJ and utility requirements
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters and thermal imaging equipment
• Maintain service records, inspection reports and photo documentation
• Follow safety procedures including PPE, lockout/tagout and fall protection
• Handle emergency service calls and warranty repairs, and communicate clearly with customers

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• 4+ years of electrical experience
• Valid driver's license with a clean record
• State electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman or equivalent)
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and work on rooftops, and work outdoors in all weather
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime
• Nice to have: solar PV, battery storage, generator or commercial solar experience, NABCEP certification, trade school or technical education

Required skills

• Strong understanding of NEC, AHJ and utility interconnection requirements
• Reading electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Using electrical diagnostic equipment
