Field Service Technician (Hybrid)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Field Service Technician (also called a Field Service Professional) in Greensboro, North Carolina, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. The technician performs repairs and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment used in Home Depot stores and external customers' retail locations and manufacturing facilities, such as paint shakers, carpet carousels, checkout stands, blind cutting machines, shopping carts and lifts. The position is hybrid and reports to the Region Equipment Services Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Document all work performed on equipment using the company technology platform, including labor and parts
• Maintain, report and store parts inventory and organize tech stock replenishment in the company vehicle
• Communicate proactively with business partners and customers about customer needs, parts and service provided
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment, mechanically and electrically, and inspect and test customer equipment
• Follow safety practices, company rules and OSHA regulations, complete pre- and post-vehicle inspections, and comply with driving and vehicle standards
• Be available by phone and tablet during work hours and handle occasional overnight travel (less than 10% of the time)

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license for the state of employment
• At least 1 year of experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment and doing preventive maintenance on industrial and commercial equipment
• Resides within 15-20 miles of Greensboro, NC
• Ability to lift 80 lbs and climb 15+ ft, and to sit, stand and drive for extended periods
• High school diploma or GED

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical schematics
• Ability to adhere to OSHA regulations, including fall protection and lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Good written and verbal communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Self-starter who can work independently and document work accurately

Preferred qualifications include 3 years of relevant experience, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, standard tools, handheld devices, and the ability to explain technical ideas simply and handle complaints.
