Field Service Engineer – PDC (SEM Inspection & Metrology)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and upgrade PDC SEM‑based inspection systems for semiconductor customers. The role involves direct interaction with customers, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring high tool uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials PDC SEM inspection systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment using standard diagnostics and collaborate with senior engineers as needed.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electron beam, vacuum, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Support customers in improving defect inspection performance and yield.
• Work with customers and internal teams to understand process flows and inspection requirements.
• Train and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Associate degree, technical training, or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s preferred).
• 4–7 years of experience supporting semiconductor equipment (preferred).
• Experience with SEM tools or e‑beam inspection systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Knowledge of vacuum systems, electron beam fundamentals, and precision motion systems.
• Basic understanding of semiconductor processes and defect/yield concepts.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 20%.
