Field Service Engineer

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers in Boise, ID, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to resolve technical issues while ensuring high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and collaborate with senior engineers to address technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain a passport for travel.
