Field Sales Consultant, Exteriors

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Home Services Sales Consultant (Exteriors) who sells exterior and interior products and services to customers. The role is mostly outside sales visits to customer homes and trade shows, with the majority of working time spent travelling and away from a dedicated office. It reports to the Sales Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Make sales calls at customers' homes, assess needs, recommend tailored products and negotiate customised price quotes
• Present warranty information and financing options, and maintain profitability
• Complete sales contracts and paperwork, and take measurements to ensure orders meet installation specifications
• Solicit new customers inside assigned stores and at industry events such as Home Shows
• Build relationships with store management and associates, educate them on HDIS offerings and raise awareness of HDIS programs
• Attend sales and store team meetings to improve sales techniques and learn about product offerings

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ year of previous related work experience preferred
• Typical overnight travel of 5% of the time; must stand or walk continuously and lift moderate-weight items (8-20 pounds)
• Usually works in a comfortable environment with occasional exposure to dust, fumes or odors

Preferred qualifications

• Prior in-home or virtual sales experience
• Prior home improvement industry experience
• Experience generating leads and computer and app skills (email, iPad, apps)

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $40,000 - $100,000.
