Field Sales Consultant, Exteriors (Aurora, IL)

About the role

The Home Depot Installation Services (HDIS) Senior Design Consultant sells exterior and interior products and services to customers, mainly through outside sales visits to customer homes and trade shows. Most of the time is spent traveling and away from a dedicated office. The position reports to a Sales Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Make sales calls at customer homes, assess needs, give tailored product recommendations and negotiate customized price quotes
• Present warranty information and financing options while maintaining profitability
• Complete sales contracts and paperwork, and take measurements to ensure orders meet installation specifications
• Solicit new customers inside assigned The Home Depot stores and at industry events such as Home Shows
• Visit assigned stores, build relationships with store management and associates, and educate them on HDIS offerings
• Attend sales and store team meetings to improve sales techniques and learn about HDIS products

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED; no additional education or experience required
• Preferred: 3-5 years of in-home or virtual sales experience, home improvement industry experience, lead generation experience, and computer and app skills

Working conditions

• Overnight travel under 10% of the time; access to reliable transportation required
• Travel reimbursement available as required by state and federal law
• Pay range of $40,000 to $100,000 for residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington
