Field Commissioning Engineer - Warehouse Robotics & Automation

About the role

Exotec designs plug-and-play warehouse robotics solutions and acts as an OEM and integrator for brands moving toward automation. As a Field Commissioning Engineer you bring its robotics and automation systems to life at client warehouse, distribution and fulfillment sites. It is a high-travel position (engineers are on site about 3 weeks out of each month) and involves designing and refining test plans, not just running them.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the integration of Exotec products and third-party systems on customer sites.
• Take part in commissioning to ensure system functionality and reliability.
• Plan, coordinate and run validation tests, including defining and refining test plans.
• Maintain the reliability of the full solution during deployment.
• Configure and improve deployed systems and troubleshoot across software, mechanical, electrical and networking layers.
• Work with customers, document progress and coordinate with the Atlanta-based team.

Required profile

• At least 1 year commissioning robotic systems or equipment, ideally in industrial automation, material handling, warehousing or logistics.
• Demonstrated experience with frequent travel.
• BS degree in mechatronics, robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering (or related).
• Comfortable with travel up to 100% of working hours and able to lift up to 50 lbs, work from heights of up to 50 ft and use lifts rated at 250 lbs.

Required skills

• Broad knowledge of software, mechanical and electrical engineering and hands-on troubleshooting.
• Preferred: AutoCAD reading and minor edits, Python, Node-RED, Linux, Git/GitHub, and experience writing test plans.
