Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

About the role

The Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages at the Colusa Indian Health Clinic, working under the supervision of the Medical Director and Clinic Director.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat acute and chronic illnesses, minor injuries, and perform physical examinations.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; administer injections and oral medications.
• Suture wounds, apply casts, and provide DME as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals, refer patients for specialty care, and coordinate health promotion activities.
• Conduct pre‑employment physicals, employee health vaccinations, and assess staff after workplace injuries.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current FNP/PA license in California, valid DEA license, and NPI number.
• Current BLS certification.
• At least one year of experience in a fast‑paced outpatient clinic.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and physical examination of patients.
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Suturing, wound care, and casting techniques.
• Administration of injections and oral medications.
