Facilities Maintenance Engineer II

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer II to perform semi‑skilled and skilled building trades work across state facilities. Under general supervision, you will handle repairs, maintenance, and minor construction tasks to keep buildings safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Perform light carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and replace broken fixtures and hardware.
• Use hand and power tools safely for repair and maintenance tasks, including basic electrical and plumbing work.
• Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems, communication cables, electric door lock systems, and handicap access systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and address emergency issues promptly.
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and materials; travel up to 25% of the time.

Required profile

• High School Diploma, GED, or vocational school diploma; associate degree or three years of related experience is preferred.
• Two to three years of job‑related experience with strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally, work at heights, in confined spaces, and perform repetitive motions.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
