About the role

The Illinois Department of Transportation is hiring temporary Winter Salaried Highway Maintainers for the 2026/2027 snow and ice season. Workers will be stationed in District 4 and will support snow and ice control, road upkeep, and related duties across multiple county locations.

Key responsibilities

Operate CDL Class A or B licensed vehicles for snow and ice control operations.
Perform labor related to maintenance of roadside right‑of‑way, roads, bridges and related structures.
Carry out routine housekeeping and general care of headquarters grounds.
Assist with snow and ice removal during the winter season (October 16 – April 15, weather‑dependent).

Required profile

Valid CDL Class A or B license.
Ability to work full‑time (Monday‑Friday, 40 hours/week) and overtime as needed during winter months.
Willingness to work onsite at assigned team locations throughout District 4.

Required skills

CDL Class A vehicle operation.
CDL Class B vehicle operation.
