Facilities Grounds Person

About the role

McWane Ductile New Jersey manufactures water distribution and infrastructure products, including iron ductile pipe. The Facilities Grounds Person keeps the plant and shared community areas safe, clean and pleasant, working both indoors and outdoors in a noisy, hot industrial setting with all seasons.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep and remove debris and garbage
• Maintain plant health, trim hedges, shrubs and small trees, and inspect grounds for safety hazards
• Repair grounds and maintain exterior sidewalks and internal plant safety walks
• Set up, prepare and clear sites for events and functions
• Perform snow removal and de-icing, operating snow removal equipment
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping and powered sweeping equipment and vehicles
• Assist production managers and superintendents with housekeeping when asked
• Follow health, safety and compliance rules and report to the Plant Services General Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Maintenance Manager

Required profile

• Hands-on experience with light maintenance: mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and electrical skills
• Able to operate a high-lift scissor lift and materials handling equipment such as a forklift
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs and perform strenuous work in various weather
• Adaptability, teamwork, quality awareness and safety compliance
• Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening and physical; drug and alcohol-free workplace
