Exercise Specialist

About the role

The Exercise Specialist joins Cleveland Clinic Health System to help members and patients develop safe, healthy exercise habits in a supportive environment. You will assess physical needs, design individualized programs, and ensure safety and equipment readiness across the wellness facility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct physical assessments and administer computerized health risk appraisals for new and existing members.
• Prescribe individualized exercise programs following ACSM guidelines based on assessment results.
• Maintain exercise floor safety by making regular rounds, assisting members, and addressing equipment issues promptly.
• Perform daily equipment cleaning, preventive maintenance, and log any malfunctions for timely repair.
• Develop and implement member incentive programs to boost consistency and retention.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education or a related field.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work variable hours, including day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
• Experience administering physical assessments, exercise prescriptions, and program development.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ACSM exercise prescription guidelines.
• Proficiency with computer hardware and KI software for assessments and record‑keeping.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Familiarity with equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance procedures.
