Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director – Large Property

About the role

Zurich is looking for an experienced Executive Large Property Underwriter or AVP, Director Large Property Underwriter to join the National Large Property team in New York. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the office/market and includes visible engagement with agents, brokers, and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, insurance laws, regulations, and rating guidelines.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors, agents, and brokers to support business retention and acquisition.
• Provide guidance to lower‑level associates and act as a subject‑matter expert on complex new and renewal domestic Large Property accounts.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities and conduct detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years (Executive) or 7+ years (AVP) of underwriting or market‑facing experience, or equivalent experience in claims/support as specified.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and relevant experience may also qualify.
• Strong knowledge of Large Property underwriting and established broker relationships in the East region are preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
