Executive Director, Development Innovation & Enablement

About the role

The University of Miami’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations seeks an Executive Director to lead innovation and enablement across fundraising operations. This senior leader will design, prototype, and implement technology‑driven solutions that improve donor engagement, fundraising productivity, and organizational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop AI, automation, and digital tools to enhance fundraising performance and staff productivity.
• Design, test, configure, and roll out practical solutions using university‑approved platforms, creating reusable workflows, agents, and templates.
• Lead a small innovation team, providing coaching, prioritization, and technical guidance while building internal capability in automation and low‑code development.
• Partner with fundraising leaders to create tools that streamline prospect identification, portfolio management, solicitation preparation, and donor stewardship.
• Ensure all solutions comply with university security, privacy, and responsible‑use policies.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, information management, computer science, advancement, or related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including hands‑on development of technology‑enabled solutions.
• Proven ability to move projects from concept through implementation and adoption.
• Strong project‑management, judgment, and communication skills for working with senior executives and operational staff.

Required skills

• Experience with AI and automation platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Gemini, Claude).
• Proficiency in low‑code/no‑code development tools such as Microsoft Power Platform.
• Knowledge of fundraising CRM systems (Salesforce, Blackbaud, Ellucian).
• Ability to design and implement workflow technologies, agents, and automation scripts.
