About the role

Wm. Mulherin’s Sons, a wood‑fired Italian restaurant in Philadelphia’s Fishtown, is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead its culinary program. The chef will shape the menu, uphold the restaurant’s seasonal, ingredient‑driven Italian cuisine, and ensure a memorable dining experience for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily kitchen operations and provide hands‑on guidance during service.
• Maintain and evolve the culinary identity, quality, and standards of the restaurant.
• Develop seasonal menus, specials, and new dishes while ensuring consistent execution and presentation.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and schedule a high‑performing culinary team, fostering a collaborative kitchen culture.
• Manage food and labor costs, oversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, organization, and cleanliness standards are met.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar senior kitchen leadership role.
• Deep appreciation for seasonal, ingredient‑driven cooking and Italian‑inspired cuisine.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team‑development skills.
• Ability to balance culinary creativity with financial discipline.
• Hands‑on approach with a presence on the line during service.
