Restaurant Host

About the role

We are seeking a friendly and professional Host to be the first point of contact for guests at W.M. Mulherins, a wood‑fired Italian restaurant in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood. You will create a welcoming atmosphere, manage the flow of diners, and support the front‑of‑house team in delivering an elevated yet relaxed dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests with warmth and genuine hospitality.
• Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments to ensure smooth service flow.
• Maintain an organized host stand and uphold visual standards of the entry area.
• Communicate with the service team to support pacing and guest experience.
• Escort guests to tables, provide menus, and highlight notable offerings.
• Answer phone calls, assist with inquiries, and provide accurate restaurant information.
• Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues efficiently.
• Uphold all safety, sanitation, and service standards.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a host, guest services, or front‑of‑house role, preferably upscale or high‑volume.
• Strong communication skills and a polished, professional presence.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast‑paced environment.
• Warm, guest‑focused demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality.
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Familiarity with reservation platforms such as Resy or OpenTable.
