Excise Tax Staff

About the role

EY’s EDGE practice is seeking an Excise Tax Staff to support compliance and advisory projects for a diverse client base across industries such as oil & gas, transportation, manufacturing, and retail. You will work within a collaborative, technically‑focused team that delivers high‑quality tax services to U.S. federal and state clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state excise tax filings, including fuel tax obligations.
• Provide advisory support such as due‑diligence reviews, structuring assistance, licensing research, and controversy support.
• Interpret new legislation, draft memos, ruling requests, and other correspondence.
• Coach, develop, and review the work of junior staff members.
• Communicate with clients to deliver technical tax recommendations and resolve engagement issues.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of U.S. excise tax concepts and regulations.
• Experience delivering tax compliance and advisory services to corporate clients.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate junior analysts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
