Event Security Coordinator

About the role

The Event Security Coordinator supports the security management of events at Ilitch Sports and Entertainment venues, including Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, Fox Theatre, Pine Knob Music Theatre, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre and Meadowbrook Amphitheatre. The role ensures that security staff deliver quality service to internal and external guests through high standards, presentation and professionalism, and works closely with Event Security Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Gather pre-event information, help plan events and manage ancillary components of events
• Take part in staff training, orientation, performance reviews and coaching
• Collect event-related data and statistics
• Respond to incidents during events and work with Event Security Managers to resolve security issues
• Coordinate security operations for ancillary events and manage security for some events at the Fox Theatre, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre and Meadowbrook Amphitheatre
• Complete event notes for each ticketed event and help brief event staff before events
• Communicate with other departments and outside contacts at ticketed and non-ticketed event meetings to understand staffing and security needs
• Ensure equipment such as walk-through metal detectors, hand wands, paperwork and wristbands is in working order and properly deployed
• Orient new staff, track colleague attendance and discipline, and carry out other assigned duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in security management or criminal justice; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• At least two years of experience in security and safety, in public or private sector security and event management
• Ability to travel throughout metro Detroit
• Valid driver's licence and clean driving record
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends
• Must pass a criminal background check and periodic checks thereafter
