About the role

F.H. Paschen, a construction company with over 115 years of experience, is hiring a full-time Estimator in Dallas. The Estimator works with management, operations and estimating staff to review project plans, requirements and specifications, and produces budgets, estimates and proposals while considering constructability, means and methods, logistics, schedule, risk and profitability. The role also carries supervisory responsibility for Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers and Construction Interns assigned to contracts and work orders.

Key responsibilities

• Create work proposals and prepare discipline estimates by taking off the complete scope of work
• Review proposal specifications and drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings, to define scope and estimate contents
• Maintain working documents and supplier price information, and incorporate historical data such as purchase orders, subcontracts and productivity reports into unit and man-hour figures
• Interact with owners, architects/engineers and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data on project feasibility
• Negotiate financial disputes and change orders with owners, and document changes affecting project completion or contract costs with subcontractors and owners
• Act as administrative point of contact for the owner and create and maintain project cost reports
• Develop the field quality assurance and quality control plan with the Superintendent, collaborate on the project safety plan, and manage MBE/WBE subcontracting and EEO/Affirmative Action contract requirements
• Report to various work locations as assigned

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or another degree related to the built environment
• 5-8 years of experience in estimating, cost control, project management and/or engineering within a construction environment

Required skills

• Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
• Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principles across a wide variety of project types
