Epidemiologist – Public Health Surveillance (Full‑Time)

About the role

Advent Services is seeking a qualified Epidemiologist to support public‑health surveillance for the USAF population at Wright Patterson AFB. The role involves analyzing health data, assisting outbreak investigations, and contributing to research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor health status of the USAF community using surveillance systems such as ESSENCE and DRSi.
• Provide data quality control, feedback, and administrative maintenance for health surveillance databases.
• Design written communications for internal and external audiences.
• Advise military team leaders on outbreak investigations and coordinate public‑health research projects.
• Create research protocols and submit them to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related field approved by USAFSAM/PHR.
• Current HIPAA training (or ability to complete within one month).
• Experience with epidemiological study design, descriptive statistics, measures of association, and data modeling.
• Training in Scientific and Technical Information (STINFO) and CITI (or ability to complete within one month).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat.
• Statistical software: SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, R, and/or STATA.
• Use of health surveillance systems: DRSi, MHS Genesis, ESSENCE, DOEHRS‑HC, ILER, ASIMS, Envision.
• Access and analysis of USAFSAM/PHR data repositories.
