Environmental Services Team Lead

About the role

The Environmental Services Team Lead will supervise an assigned function within the Environmental Services department while also performing hands‑on cleaning duties. This full‑time position works days from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including every other weekend and holiday, at Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, FL.

Key responsibilities

• Orient, train, and schedule caregivers to ensure coverage and resource availability.
• Monitor performance, report policy violations, and enforce patient isolation and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by cleaning patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, and surgical suites.
• Stock supplies, manage waste streams (general, recycling, infectious), and perform floor care tasks such as dust mopping, vacuuming, and buffing.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in environmental services or housekeeping with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to provide direction on departmental policies, cleaning techniques, and proper use/storage of chemicals.

Required skills

• Operation of cleaning equipment (vacuum, floor buffers, dust mops).
• Safe handling and application of disinfectants and other cleaning chemicals.
