About the role

The Environmental Project Assessor leads building assessment projects across the United States, ensuring compliance with ASTM standards and client specifications. The role involves on‑site evaluations, client interaction, and extensive travel to project locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct on‑site assessments such as Property Condition Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos/lead/radon sampling, seismic and structural surveys, roofing surveys, and ADA checklists.
  • Review historical and regulatory records, communicate with local building, zoning, and fire departments, and identify any outstanding violations.
  • Prepare detailed written reports using electronic devices, incorporating field notes, photographs, and interview data.
  • Travel up to 50% of the workweek by plane, vehicle, or train, often alternating between on‑site days and home office days.
  • Act as technical lead for specialized projects, providing guidance to the leadership team and ensuring high‑quality deliverables.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience, or five years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Preferred certifications: AHERA, Asbestos Inspector, or OSHA 40‑hour.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of ASTM standards and building assessment protocols.
  • Experience with Property Condition Assessments and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Proficiency in asbestos, lead, and radon sampling techniques.
  • Ability to conduct seismic, structural, and roofing surveys.
  • Familiarity with ADA compliance checklists and pre‑construction document reviews.
  • Report writing using computers, tablets, or similar electronic devices.
  • Valid driver’s license for extensive travel.
  • AHERA, Asbestos Inspector, or OSHA 40‑hour certification (preferred).
