Entry Level Payroll Auditor I

About the role

Withum is seeking an Entry Level Payroll Auditor I to join its Employee Benefits Fund Audit team. No CPA or prior audit experience is required; comprehensive training, mentorship and hands-on experience are provided so that you can build a career in payroll compliance auditing. The position is not remote and travel may be required depending on client needs.

Key responsibilities

• Audit employer contributions to employee benefit plans to verify compliance with contractual requirements
• Communicate with employers to schedule audits, request supporting documentation and discuss findings
• Perform compliance testing, analyze payroll records and reconcile payroll data with trust fund records
• Collaborate with managers and senior team members to resolve complex audit issues
• Prepare audit reports for management review and give timely status updates on engagements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (a 4-year college degree is required); auditors often come from business administration or the social sciences
• Organized self-starter with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
• Effective written and verbal communicator
• Ethically responsible, resilient under pressure
• Analytical and tech-savvy
• Comfortable traveling to employer locations or working remotely or hybrid

What we offer

• Salary range of $53,000 - $70,000 in California and Washington, depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications
