Entry Level Machinist

About the role

Moog is seeking motivated entry‑level machinists to join its performance‑driven culture in Blacksburg, VA. This full‑time onsite position offers a Monday‑through‑Friday schedule and a sign‑on bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling, and grinding operations.
• Operate shear vise, tapping machines (manual and power), and a variety of power hand tools including grinders, drills, belt and disc sanders, sand and bead blasters.
• Use power band saws and cut‑off saws, selecting proper speeds, feeds, blade size, and handling blade maintenance.
• Maintain and apply turning/plunge and form tools, and handle machine shop gauges.
• Complete required paperwork and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow verbal, written, and computer instructions in English.
• At least one year of completion of an approved Machine Technology program or equivalent vocational training.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics and knowledge of machine shop gauges and machines.
• ATDM (Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing) graduates are encouraged to apply.
