2nd Shift Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Engineer to support its Space & Defense team in Blacksburg, VA. The role involves working closely with the Value Stream Manager and cross‑functional teams to develop and improve manufacturing processes for high‑tech actuator and fiber‑optic products.

Key responsibilities

• Support production lines, external vendors, suppliers and contractors, ensuring smooth operations.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions, labor standards, and facility layouts.
• Review engineering drawings, conduct mechanical and electrical design reviews, and suggest manufacturability improvements.
• Prepare and present regular performance, schedule, and cost reports to leadership.
• Enforce ITAR, AS9100, and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Self‑starter who can work independently and as part of a team in a shift environment.
• Willingness to travel within the United States as needed.

Required skills

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with fiber‑optic products.
• Familiarity with lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Knowledge of electro‑mechanical or magnetic systems.
• Understanding of clean‑room practices.
• Ability to work with manufacturing tooling, work instructions, and facility layout design.
