Engineering Technician, Prototypes

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Electrical Engineering Technician to support the build and installation of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and rack hardware for test labs across multiple programs. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality prototype builds and ensuring clear documentation for downstream production.

Key responsibilities

• Build prototype and small‑batch harnesses and cable assemblies from drawings and wire lists, verifying components against the BOM.
• Crimp, strip, and solder to IPC standards while meeting strict quality‑assurance targets.
• Install rack infrastructure, including power distribution, copper and fiber patching, airflow management, and remote management bring‑up.
• Participate in design reviews to flag drawing‑to‑build discrepancies and suggest build optimisations.
• Work closely with engineers and lab technicians on safety checks, software loads, functional tests, and hands‑on debugging of live test assets.

Required profile

• Technical or vocational certificate in vehicle systems or related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of automotive, aerospace, or industrial harness assembly experience to IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 Class 2 standards.
• 2+ years of light fabrication experience (drilling, cutting sheet metal, etc.).
• Strong electrical system troubleshooting skills and methodical build hygiene (kitting, BOM verification, deviation tracking).
• Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams.

Required skills
