Director, Strategic Sourcing - Surgical

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing for its Surgical business to lead procurement activities, build supplier relationships, and align sourcing with business objectives. This senior position is based onsite at the Irvine, CA location.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary procurement interface for the Irvine site, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing procurement team, driving accountability and execution excellence.
• Execute strategic sourcing initiatives for direct materials such as electronics, electromechanical components, contract manufacturing, metal components, and molded plastics.
• Drive RFQs/RFPs, negotiate with suppliers, and manage contract execution to achieve cost savings and PPV improvements.
• Manage supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost) and conduct business reviews with key suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks, including single‑source dependencies and capacity constraints.

Required profile

• 10+ years of relevant experience with at least 6 years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degrees are a plus.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation expertise.
• Ability to utilize AI and advanced analytics for smarter sourcing decisions.
