Engineering Technician

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the design, testing, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Gloucester, MA. The role involves hands‑on work in a fast‑paced, high‑technology environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, modify, and assemble electronic and electro‑mechanical components, prototypes, and test fixtures.
• Perform system‑level and component‑level testing, troubleshooting, and validation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum processes.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks, and write technical reports and recommendations for product improvements.
• Support new product introductions (NPI), field upgrades, and quality lead activities, providing training to junior technicians.

Required profile

• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including standing for long periods, tight spaces, and clean‑room environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Experience interpreting engineering documentation and developing procedures with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system design and assembly.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum testing.
• Use of specialized test equipment, hand and power tools, and forklifts.
• Clean‑room protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
