Engineering Technician II – Weekend Shift

About the role

Join Applied Materials as an Engineering Technician II working weekend shifts in Austin. You will support the design, testing, assembly, and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems that drive next‑generation semiconductor and display technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine to moderately complex electro‑mechanical tasks including design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronics and systems.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level problems in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum subsystems.
• Install new systems, NPI equipment, and field upgrades, following schematics, diagrams, and written instructions.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks, and generate quality notifications.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment, adhering to all safety standards and clean‑room PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Physically able to stand for long periods, work in tight spaces, lift, climb ladders, and operate heavy machinery such as forklifts.
• Comfortable working in noisy environments and clean‑room conditions, using appropriate protective equipment.
• Good analytical skills and ability to follow detailed engineering and manufacturing documentation.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical testing and troubleshooting.
• Circuit design and interpretation of schematics.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum system testing.
• Use of hand and power tools, test fixtures, and specialized equipment.
• Forklift operation and basic heavy‑machinery handling.
