Engineering Manager, Platform

About the role

Render is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead its newly formed Platform team. You will guide a growing group of engineers to modernize Render's internal developer platform and shared production infrastructure, delivering high‑impact tools used by millions of developers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of platform engineers, providing clear technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Drive execution of product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed with reliability and quality.
• Partner with Runtime, Security, Product and other engineering teams to translate user needs into scalable systems.
• Shape technical direction, make architectural decisions and ensure the platform supports rapid developer velocity.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience as an engineer on infrastructure or similar teams delivering products for developers.
• 4+ years of people‑management experience, including hiring, mentorship and performance management.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product and design.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability for team outcomes and long‑term system health.

Required skills

• Deep experience with open‑source technologies that support internal platform tools, build & deployment systems, CI/CD, observability and configuration management.
• Hands‑on ability to engage in system design, architecture and engineering trade‑offs for highly scalable distributed systems.
