Engineer II, R&D - Medical Devices

About the role

Terumo Neuro is hiring an Engineer II, R&D in Aliso Viejo, California, to support the development of medical device products. The role covers writing or verifying specifications, designing new products and fixtures, testing processes and equipment, and specifying raw materials so that concepts and prototypes meet their requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new product concepts and products, and provide engineering design and process development.
• Generate intellectual property and write invention disclosures.
• Supervise Assemblers, Technicians and Specialists.
• Work largely independently and meet project goals with moderate supervision; some travel is required.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations, follow Quality Management System processes and act with ethics and integrity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific field.
• Minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills including MS Word, Excel and CAD (SolidWorks or PRO/E proficiency required).

Desired qualifications

• Advanced degree in engineering or a scientific field.
• Experience designing and developing medical devices, reading and preparing technical documentation, and knowledge of standard machine shop and medical device manufacturing equipment.
• Working knowledge of materials used in the medical device industry and of medical device and technical development.
• Engineering internship or rotation program experience, and one year of manufacturing experience, preferred.
