Engineer II, R&D Materials

About the role

Terumo Neuro is hiring an Engineer II, R&D Materials in Aliso Viejo, California. The role supports the development of medical device products through writing or verifying specifications, designing new products and fixtures, testing processes and equipment, and specifying raw materials so that concepts and prototypes meet their requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new product concepts and products, and provide engineering design and process development.
• Generate intellectual property and write invention disclosures.
• Supervise Assemblers, Technicians and Specialists.
• Work largely independently to meet project goals with moderate supervision; some travel is required.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations, follow Quality Management System processes and act with ethics and integrity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific field.
• At least two years of relevant work experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers, including MS Word and Excel.
• SolidWorks or PRO/E proficiency is required.
• Desired: advanced degree, medical device design and development experience, ability to read and prepare technical documentation, knowledge of machine shop and medical device manufacturing equipment, working knowledge of medical device materials, engineering internship or rotation experience, and one year of manufacturing experience.

Physical demands

• Extended periods of computer use and sitting or standing.
• Light lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Possible exposure to radiation (e.g., in cath labs).
