Endoscopy Technician

About the role

The Endoscopy Technician will support physicians and nurses in the outpatient Endoscopy Center at Indian River Hospital, performing cleaning, maintenance, and documentation for endoscopic equipment while assisting with patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians during colonoscopies, EGDs, ERCPs, flexible sigmoidoscopies and EUS procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain all endoscopes and related equipment according to policy.
• Change chemical sterilant, operate the scope washer, assess scopes daily and report damage.
• Prepare and send scopes for repair, and orient new staff on cleaning procedures.
• Support RN duties: admit patients, set up rooms, transport patients, and manage patient recovery.
• Perform clerical tasks such as scheduling assistance and specimen transport using universal precautions.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one year of experience in a hospital setting.
• Ability to work the 6:30 am – 3:00 pm shift.

Required skills

• Knowledge of endoscope cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMT) preferred.
