Emulation Software Engineer

About the role

Etched builds AI chips hard-coded for individual model architectures, aiming for much higher throughput and lower latency than current GPU-based solutions. This Emulation Software Engineer role is based in Cupertino and involves bringing up SoCs on emulation platforms, accelerating pre-silicon validation and supporting emulation environments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee SoC bring-up on emulation platforms and diagnose and resolve failing SoC/processor tests.
• Develop techniques to speed up pre-silicon validation and software development.
• Support emulation environments using C/C++ DPI transactors, coverage analysis and in-circuit emulation for high-speed protocols.
• Work with Design, DV, Silicon Validation, Performance and Software teams, and partner with emulation vendors to improve platforms and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Build software to capture debugging signals and create tooling, implement hybrid emulation environments with custom DPI-based streaming transactors, and create configurable chip-to-chip network models.

Required profile

• Hands-on emulation experience on platforms such as Palladium, Protium, Veloce or Zebu, covering bring-up, build flows, debugging and performance tuning.
• Strong C/C++ and Linux system development experience.
• Proficiency with SystemVerilog and Verilog, including DPI-based interfaces.
• Scripting experience, for example Python for automation.
• Nice to have: UVM verification environments, design verification, DFT and testbench modeling, and waveform debug tools such as Verdi or SimVision.
