About the role
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides basic life support and assists with advanced life support in emergency, traumatic, and psychiatric situations. Working as part of a two‑person ambulance crew, the EMT responds to emergency and non‑emergency calls, transports patients safely, and documents care.
Key responsibilities
- Perform BLS services and assist with ALS for patients requiring higher levels of care.
- Assess injuries or illnesses, prioritize medical procedures, and stabilize patients on scene.
- Operate and drive a specially equipped ambulance safely under various conditions.
- Document assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
- Maintain equipment inspection schedules, decontaminate the ambulance, and recommend risk‑reduction measures.
Required profile
- High School Diploma/GED (within 2 years of hire) and ability to work under stress.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and ability to drive an ambulance safely.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads and perform frequent physical activities.

- BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
- EMT‑B – Emergency Medical Technician‑Basic (National Registry)
- EMSVO – Emergency Medical Service Vehicle Operator
- PHTLS – Prehospital Trauma Life Support
- PEARS – Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization
- NIMS 100, 200, 700 certifications
