Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Starting November 2nd

About the role

Assist Ambulance, a New York City EMS agency with a 30-year history serving the five boroughs, is hiring Emergency Medical Technicians certified in New York State for its Brooklyn (or Bronx) base. The agency provides BLS and ALS emergency and non-emergency transport to hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, doctors' offices and community organizations. Positions start on November 2nd and are open to both full-time and part-time schedules.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old; drivers must be at least 20 with 1 year of driving experience in New York City.
• Active NY State EMT-B card; NREMT card alone is not accepted.
• Valid New York State D Class driver's license with no more than 3 major moving violations in the past three years; DJ licenses and permits are not accepted.
• Physically fit to lift 125 lbs., able to obtain 19A physical clearance and a negative PPD test, and pass a 10-panel drug screen.
• Commitment to at least two 8-hour shifts per week on the same days every week; per diem is not available.
• Willingness to attend three days of in-person pre-hire assessments, with driving assessments on a separate date if eligible to drive.

What we offer

• Base pay starting at $20.50 to $25.00 per hour, depending on interview and experience.
• Weekly pay, with a $.50 raise after 90 days for drivers and 5% annual raises for all EMTs.
• $1 per hour bonus after 90 days for full-time workers in any given pay period.
• Paid training, free uniforms and paid sick time and PTO up to 56 hours per year (unpaid 32 hours issued at hiring).

• 8 hours pay for full-time staff on major holidays, 4 hours for part-time after 90 days.
