Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic Life Support

About the role

Phelps Health is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to provide basic life support and safe ambulance transport for patients in Missouri. The EMT will work under the direction of a Paramedic and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality emergency care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and reassess patients, delivering rescue interventions according to Medical Director protocols.
• Operate the ambulance safely, navigating streets and highways under all conditions.
• Coordinate patient hand‑off to receiving facilities with concise reports.
• Document patient care accurately on the Missouri Ambulance Report Form (MARF).
• Maintain infection control and safe patient handling practices.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an approved Missouri EMT program.
• Current Missouri EMT license, BLS and PHTLS certifications (to be obtained within six months if not already held).
• Class E driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lb and endure extended driving periods.

Required skills

• King airway insertion, C‑PAP, oral/nasal airway placement, and Autovent use.
• Splinting techniques (ladder, SAM, board, traction) and spinal motion restriction.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pre‑Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) procedures.
